Week 3 Fitness Diary – Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 and Why My Pants Don’t Fit

This is week three of my Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 ninja training aka working my booty off aka tossing out the muffin top! I’m still loving this game!

In the first week of Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 I dropped 2lbs and get in the swing of things.

The second week of Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 I dropped 5lbs and spent a lot of time focusing on my abs and glutes.

I lost an additional pound this week… and while that doesn’t seem like a lot I am beyond stoked about it! I had to start wearing a belt! YES! This means either my pants somehow grew while I was sleeping or I am slimming down.

It’s not just a slight difference.. It’s like when you wear pants too big and you have that bubble around your butt that makes it look like you pooped yourself.

Yes, I am excited about the fact my pants don’t fit me right thus making it look like I dropped one in my pants.

This past week I obsessed over getting metals and awards. Each time I would try something new on the game (like an activity or class) I would not move on until I beat my scores and got a metal. This is a huge part of the game and one that keeps me motivated.

I’m flying through the Cardio Boxing classes. It’s like I am martial arts training again but from my own home. It will give reminders like keep my elbows loose, keep with the beat and let me know when I am not doing something correctly. Which then in turn makes me punch harder! It seriously kicks butt! My kids join in with me when I am doing Cardio Boxing since they are both in martial arts class. They have a lot of fun with it… especially when I get told I am doing something wrong!

Week three on this all in all is a huge success. It’s become a part of my routine instead of something I feel like I have to do. As I build up my endurance I am enjoying the more challenging levels of all the classes. Every day I’m able to do a little more and get a higher score… and that is really rewarding!

Plus spending time every day punching, kicking and upper cutting the air with my kids is just ninjatastic!

Who is that ninja on the right??

wow, it just sounds like so much fun! And I hate to admit it, but I’m the type who loves to outdo my own score and obtain those achievements. :P That’s a motivation in itself to keep “playing” (exercising)

That is exactly what keeps me going! When I don’t beat my previous score I get really determined! It’s rewarding when I do :)

Thanks for posting these progress reports! We just got a Kinect for the holidays and I’ve been looking for an alternative to trying to do completely self-motived and self-led workout routines at home (as I can’t afford to take any classes or go the gym right now), and it’s good to read about someone’s progress with this game. It’s got good reviews all over the web but there is something reassuring about someone actually posting progress as they go. Keep up the great work and I’ll definitely check back to see your posts

Thanks so much! The progress reports have helped me a lot as well as all you rad readers! It helps me see where I am and what I’ve done and how much progress I’ve made. Very motivating. Even though my fitness program is “over” I still woke up with a workout! I’m down 11lbs and still have more to lose.. and thankful for a game like this to help me!

Wow I live hearing your progress. I am so new to gaming I am completely intrigued by the fact they challenge you on this game by using your competitive side against you :) I love kickboxing. My son would LOvE this!

    1. Leila says:

The world of exer-gaming is new to me even though I grew up gaming… it’s really amazing to use your body to play a game and get this kind of benefit for it. I was pretty against a lot of gaming for my kids because an active lifestyle is a healthy one… so games like these squash those types of concerns and they are something I encourage. We just got done doing yoga together! Oh and I’ll add that they are MUCH better at it than I am haha

I just bought this game and had lots of fun with it the first night! However, i’m wondering how to get to the workout routine they customized for me after I set my goals. I can’t find what I should be doing, besides them saying 30 minutes three times a week. Do they give you more details? if so, how can I get to them? I was really hoping they would say something like:

    Day 1:
    1. Jump rope
    2. Block Punch
    3. Run the World – Beginner level X for XX Minutes
    Etc.

    Please help! Thank YOU!!
