Fitness Diary Week Two for Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 aka Ninja Training!

I can’t believe that I’m noticing the difference in my body after only two weeks of this game! I’ve down 5lbs and I still think that is huge considering I still eat like crap and Thanksgiving was in the beginning of this. I’m converting a lot of fat in to muscle so I expect to see less of a weight drop but hope to define my body more.

And by defining I mean toning up and not by calling myself a muffin top!

This past week I’ve been focusing on my abs and glutes. After two kids the elasticity in my stomach isn’t really there so I know that will be a challenge. I also can’t stand doing situps. I’ve found a few of the programs on Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 that help me target my abs without just doing a ton of situps. The Cardio Boxing is my overall favorite class (I am a ninja after all). I also love that I can pick body focused workouts that really challenge me.

My glutes are a story of their own. I lived my whole life with no butt. I had a completely flat booty, no hips with thin legs! After my youngest was born my booty and hips kind of just took off! I went from being the twig I used to be to a much more curvy person. It was a weird adjustment to realize that I am not physically the person I’ve always been. I used to hate it and it made me self conscious. I wanted my old frame back because I was used to it. Well, now I am embracing the curves and the body I have now. Once I can tone my body and feel healthy again I will really embrace it.

Until playing Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 and I really didn’t know what to do in order to shape and tone specific parts of my body. I was just a wild active monkey and burned off calories like crazy. Now? Well, I just don’t have that same lifestyle… so I really love that this game helps me learn what I am supposed to do without me having to go to a gym and hire a personal trainer.

The only bummer with this past week for me is a personal error. I kept logging in to the wrong account and I lost a few days of stats because of it. I guess waking up at 6am to get my Your Shape: Fitness Evolved on before having coffee means I am going to make some silly errors!

Over the next week I’m going to push myself more and try to get a work out in every day and alternate between hard workouts and workouts like Yoga and stretching.

    I was actually thinking about purchasing this game, but wasn’t sure if it would be worth it to me. It seems that it would be totally worth it! I always avoided getting a gym membership because I get embarrassed working out around strangers. This seems like a perfect way to get my fitness on!

      I feel the same way about working out around strangers! Plus, driving to and from the gym plus dealing with childcare adds to the hassle… working out in the livingroom at my own pace is pretty rad!

    I’ve been wondering about different fitness packages for the kinect. I hate to spend any money until I know it will be worth it. So far we haven’t been good at using the Kinect and I think working out would be a great use. I will be studying this program again.

      Getting in to the kinect is a strange transition since I’ve been a gamer my whole live… the concept of exer-gaming seemed cheesy at first but after integrating it in to my regular daily routine it’s quickly become the best way for me to get active and fit again!

      Exercising IS fun… especially when there are points and rewards to be earned. It’s all about that competitive drive ;)

    Now you’re all making me want to buy this, especially because the last two weeks won’t give me the time to drive to a safe place where i can exercise XD Would be good for the four weeks (two weeks for midterms and finals time each) of each semester where I have to stay in for school work. :D Not exercising for two weeks can make you regain weight for Also would be good for when my gym membership ends.

      It is so much easier to make time every day for a good workout when it’s in your living room rather than having to deal with a commute or schedules. If I relied solely on making time for the gym like I was.. I wouldn’t have dropped the weight I have this past month during the hardest time of the year!

    I love this is a great alternative to the gym or a personal trainer because you have the privacy and comfort of home without having to spend so much more $$ for a membership or a trainer

      I agree! With the economy the way it is right now most people can’t afford the personal trainer they need to get in the shape they want… but the first time the “trainer” on this game corrects you or praises you.. it’s honestly just as good as someone in the same room telling you the same thing. Actually, it’s better.. cause I can say what I want to the trainer in the game but with a real life trainer I may have to bite my tongue ;)

    Wow great progress! I have about 50 lbs to lose and my kiddos just got the kinect Xbox 360. Thank you for the inspiration. If I do not win, I will definitively need to add this as a request for valentines day.
